Foresight Session of the Quaestio Rossica Editorial Board

On September 4, 2019, an international seminar Foresight Session of the Quaestio Rossica Editorial Board took place at Ural Federal University. The objectives of the seminar were to discuss the development of contemporary international academic journals as an important part of academia. The seminar aimed at discussing overarching issues and presentations of guest speakers in the framework of suggested topics.

The seminar was joined by the Quaestio Rossica editorial board and representatives of other journals such as Simon Dixon (University College London, UK; member of the editorial board of Kritika: Explorations in Russian and Eurasian History, Journal of Modern Russian History and Historiography), L. P. Repina (Institute of World History, Russian Academy of Sciences, editor-in-chief of Dialog so Vremenem), M. S. Belousov (St Petersburg University, deputy editor-in-chief of Vestnik Sankt-Peterburgskogo Universiteta. Istoriya), V. V. Abashev (Perm State University, member of the editorial board of Vestnik Permskogo Universiteta. Rossiyskaya i Zarubezhnaya Filologiya), E. I. Dergacheva-Skop (Novosibirsk State University, member of the editorial board of Vestnik Novosibirskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta. Seriya: Istoriya, Filologiya), E. T. Artemov (Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, deputy editor-in-chief of Ural’skiy Istoricheskiy Vestnik), T. V. Kushch (Ural Federal University, editor-in-chief of Izvestia. Ural Federal University Journal. Series 2. Humanities).

The participants of the seminar discussed topical issues of academic journals, evaluation criteria, and selection. They also focused on the correlation between the demand for the topics of a journal and its level of citation, and the way journals can shape and define academic trends in the Russian and international communities.
